First Love - that never fades away. by Richard Walker

You can call me childish or even think it's stupid,
but once long ago I got shot - I got shot by Cupid!
She was a fairy tale princess in a dream.
A real life dream of mine.
As she sat on the smooth lawn under the trees
with her hair flowing in the breeze.
Picking a daisy to share - to share with me!
I'll always remember that long ago entrancing
lovely sunny day in May
where the glow of a little girlish face will never fade away.
Where the flowers all turned their heads our way.
Tincturing the young memories of my life
with their fragrant outpouring of colors.
But beauty is only a temporary flow of atomic decay,
so pragmatists say.
But what do they know of dreams, of passion and love?
Can't they see what those wildflowers see in the skies above?
That love is an emotional need to communicate with the infinite.
To plant a human seed in the soul of the planet
for our sibling hearts to grow.
