Band Days by Christine Bruness

Washington Square Park, NYC:
We finished the last of
our bagged bottles
of Guinness and Jameson
after your set at CBGBs
and the crisp air of midnight
let us feel ethereal,
as if we could fly
and touch the stars
but we settled instead
for kisses
and earthly pleasures
knowing we'd be
free to dance
eternally
with the stars
soon enough.
