A Life Alive- (performance version) by Clare Newcome

Don't try to flatten my passion
like it's the fire of sin
Coz passion is the stirring
Of God moving from within

Igniting loins with fervour
And making pupils water
Behind them hide the diamonds
Which you may never find,
Unless you will surrender
Your heart, your soul, your mind.

Coz there's a greater power-
And when a lover plucks your chord
The diamonds surface faster
Like flamenco Spanish dancers
With hideous kinky colours
Or motorcycle diaries

On the open road

To the place I know

Love and Peace is not a Dream.

God I know you made the sunset red
And the magic in the sea
You made the music stir our gut
And the dance inside of me-

So let it breathe

And let the body writhe

With a heart of love,
And a sense of drive

Believe- the world can be revived
In ways big and small
You just have to try
So start with Art
And end when you die
Step out in faith
And life's never dry.

The world is wonderous and wide
To be explored
To be enjoyed
It is a gift
A challenge too
So keep on fighting
Till they see through
The brokenness, the pain and hate
Start now those who hope
It's never too late

Release the things that hold you down
Let go of them and shed the frown.
The meaning of this life on earth
Holds highs and lows
From death to birth.

Without the dark
You can't know light
Without the day
You can't have night.

Everything has to rearrange
As times move on
And seasons change

And birds will fly
While snails crawl
But whether fast or slow
Big change or small
We're all invited to the ball
Where tears are dried
And pain reaches it's end
Where Glory wins
And wings will lift
And you'll soar with eagles
Always in flight
When He comes back
Like a thief in the night
And a new creation begins on our earth
And angels and demons will separate
And stop fighting for us
Coz we've chosen our fate

The lion and lamb
Are let out of their cage

We'll stop strangling them
Between four cold church walls
They'll be uncontained

I love you God
For my life you've changed

You took the crap
And freed the pain
You gave me life
How can I repay?

My heart cries with Praise
You have made it sing
A song of liberation
To the healing King.

Just Another Song by Clare Newcome

I don't want this to be
Just another song
Coz this time
I just don't feel it's wrong

Let's keep this one simple
Where simple is strong

This time my heart is ready to take
The highs and lows
And it will not break,
And that's not coz I'm harder
But because I am free,
From the chains that once
Made a prisoner of me.

I'm now in a place of liberty
And you're a stronger man,
With more maturity.

Your heart and mine
We go for big-
You keep me strong,
You make me tick
When you're around my soul is alive
Despite the years of ego and pride.

In this past season
I've toiled and tried
To reach a place where hope is denied
I said you were gone
But God knew that I lied,
He saw the tears that in private
I've cried.

Through perseverance
Comes greater zest
You know me well
You know me best.
Your spirit is wild
You're impassioned and free
You make me inspired
You captivate me.

I saw you and the bond is
Just as strong
And this time
You said you don't feel its wrong

We both couldn't sleep,
A long strange night
But I was not tired
Because my heart was light
And that's the beauty
Of holding nothing too tight
That is the beauty
When you know something is right.

You were terrified
Your heart was pumping hard
I was calm
Then mine began jumping,
Scared,
It's a dangerous place
But it feels ok,
So this time I hope
This time I pray
That our love won't be broken
Or taken away
This time I hope
That you're here to stay

Coz I don't want this to be
Just another song,
Coz this time
I just don't feel it's wrong.
