Soldier Tears by Kenneth Brown

One night in Iraq a soldier looked to the sky.
He posed a question to God as to why.
"Why all the fighting; I don't understand".
Was the question he asked, as he stood in the sand
He searched the heavens high above
Thinking "If we truly are one world, then where is the love?"
And that's when he saw it; shining so bright
His question answered...a tear fell from his eye
The kids always known it; now he knew it too
The Little Dipper flies over, the Middle East too.

The Details by Kenneth Brown

I stare at your picture, just inches away
and I'm comforted by the details of your face.
Your smile and your lips, the curve of your hips
The small of your back, where my hands used to rest
The inside of your thighs that I love to caress.
The taste of your skin, the smell of your hair
how my heart starts to race, when I'm kissing you there.
When I'm doing it right, that sound you would make,
you try to hold back, but you can't, it escapes.
Slow down you tell me, please, make it wait.
Overwhelming sensation, the feelings too great.
Your body goes ridged, you spasm & twitch,
now I feel you all over my tongue and my lips.
I stare at your picture, I honestly do
for it always reminds me, the details of you.

Kimberlite by Kenneth Brown

The moon does its glow thingy,
and everyone knows that stars can shine.
Lasers have beams like a match has a flame,
but none of them burn quite as brightly as mine.
This light that I speak of is definitely rare,
It fills me with joy, warms my heart when it's near.
If ever you find it, I urge you to hold tight
So lucky I am to have found one alright.

Don't Run!!! by Kenneth Brown

Though it wore no cloak nor carried a scythe
Me and Jim both...we knew it was him.
To see it in person...an ominous fright.
Its eyes close together; a predator like no other
we were locked in his sight.
Us two; his quarry, awaiting his burst.
Me; I was praying...don't go for me first.
Terror stricken...my heart quickened
My feet were like lead. Jim started to gun it
He thought he could outrun it; but the beast won instead.
Grim was on his neck quick...Jim's blood running thick.
My stomach turning; I thought I would be sick.
I was hearing; flesh tearing...I heard his bones break
I wasn't sure, how much more I could take.
The beast gobbled and slurped...made a sickening burp
Grim ate him whole; ate Jim down to his sneakers.
I watched Jim lose his soul...lose his soul to the Reaper.
