the wishing match by Kevin Roberts

have you patience left in your arms?
those twisting
snakes
that bite down hard,
poking at my insides'
prodding,
"won't you come out?
forever.

my heart is a fan
of being properly introduced
when dining in and out
at parties or small get togethers,
with love.

have you the answers in your scars?
the ones you carry
only for the benefit
of their reflection on mirrors.
the glass that is meant for beauty,
you keep in your pocket
for anything but.

with this being said,
your hair unravels
to the pillow and off the bed.
asking the floor questions,
"am I good enough to be on the list
of all my lover's failures or accomplisments?"
or
"is it okay to cry with closed eyes
while I am being penetrated by the very thing I have ran from my entire
  life?"
the wood sucks in deep
a sigh of relief
as the hair climbs back up
to the top of the blankets-
back into the head
of this guilty conscience.

so have you the guilt in your stomach
to carry on these classic endevours?
the power
to muster through the days
where mud is your cologne
and bloody sheets on your bedspread
are the ones you glady wrap yourself in
for a good night sleep?

take all these thoughts
as a way to know you are no longer selfish...
take all of your deep rooted memories
as a sign of growth through character
take all of these moments in life
as seconds bulding up to death
take them for what they are

baby blue eyes
that melt from a sky
only to be back in your hands
and one with you.
