Departure by Katie Tisch

You asked me to drop you off
At the airport, you were leaving
For a few days
An escape, flash back on your life
Before she died
The days where you got lost
In drunken blurs and fast machines
You left - and left laundry for me
to do for you while you were gone
Your departure was great
You spouted things like
"I love you"
"I'll miss you"
Three days and nights away
I couldn't care less.
I twidled your promise ring on my finger
Always and forever, you couldnt wear
the ring, where it belonged
It would hinder your 'game'
I glared at you trying to leave a kiss
on my lips, as you said goodbye
Your departure was great
I spouted things like
"I love you too"
"I'll miss you too"
Three days and nights away
I couldn't care less.
I've got your laundry to do
and a stack of other things
you have left behind
strewn on my bedroom floor
casualties of your departure.
